The Phoenix |
|
”A mythical bird that never
dies, the phoenix flies far ahead of the front always scanning
the landscape and distant space. It represents our capacity for vision,
for collecting sensory information about our environment and
the events unfolding within it. The phoenix, with its
great beauty, creates intense excitement and deathless
inspiration.”

Richard Grund ... |
|
Richard
Grund is the President of Phoenix Restaurants. For over twenty
years Mr. Grund owned Total Food Service Direction with his partner
Mr. Gus Gregory. Mr. Grund held the position of Executive Vice
President. Under his leadership, TFSD became a leader in corporate
and educational dining for more than 20 years. TFSD was committed
to quality, service and uncompromising excellence. TSFD became a
nationally recognized, award winning company and a leading force
within the restaurant industry. In 1988 they were chosen by
their
peers as the best dining service company in the country. Both Mr.
Gregory and Mr. Grund were involved heavily in the early formulative
years of the Society for Food Management (the national organization
of corporate food service management professionals). Mr. Gregory
is a past President of the Society and Mr. Grund is a recipient of
their highest honor, The Society’s President’s Award. Although it
is not the Company’s goal to grow as large as TFSD was, it is the
intention of Mr. Grund to build Phoenix into an even better company
from the perspective of customer service and food quality. In 1997
these gentlemen sold TFSD to the Fine Host Corporation. Mr. Gregory
retired from active management and Mr. Grund became Fine Host’s
Regional Vice President, overseeing the Southeast United States. In
mid 2002 it became evident that Fine Host was going to sell their
company to the Aramark Corporation, Mr. Grund, not wishing to be
part of a nine (9) billion dollar company, opted to leave Fine Host.
With a history dating back to 1978, TFSD provided dining services to
more than 50 accounts in the Southeast and had over 500 employees.
In addition to serving Carnival Cruise Lines for over 20 years, they
served Office Depot, Burger King Corporation, The Miami Herald, the Assurant Group, Amadeus, The Palm Beach Post, Sensormatic-Tyco and
the Federal Reserve Bank, and built a growing presence in Atlanta,
Georgia, Greeneville, South Carolina and New Orleans, Louisiana.
Phoenix, through
Mr. Grund and the other staff he has surrounded himself with, has a
wealth of experience providing corporate dining, college and school
food service, hospital food service, recreational feeding, catering
and conference services. Phoenix’s first client was Lynn
University. It is their intention to ultimately build a small company
of several large accounts, solely in the South East Florida
area. The Restaurant Business is a fun business. The fun part is
the relationships with customers, the opportunity to be creative,
the competition to provide newer and better foods, working with and
teaching our staff members and in general, bringing the gift of
hospitality to your customers. This can only be effectively
provided by a small
regional company. To that end our efforts are always mindful of our
market driven, high quality service philosophy.
Total Food Service was
a
recipient of IFMA’S prestigious “Silver Plate” one of very few
organizations so honored."
He has lectured
at Florida International University and at Chungang University in
Seoul, Korea.
He taught
Food Service Management at St. Thomas University in Miami, Florida |

What Makes Us
Unique ... |
|
The quality of the
food products we purchase and the chefs and team members in our
company make us unique. Some of the brands that we use:
Boar’s Head
Meats,
Naturally Fresh Salad Dressings, Starbuck’s Coffee, Tropicana
Juices, Arizona Iced Teas, a Lee and many, many more.
Our distinction
lies in creating custom food service programs for our Clients. We
do not use a cookie cutter approach. The passion for food, along
with an obsession for quality, speed, details and constant
improvement in the way we do business, can build a winning food
service program for you. |
